The three elements of the HTS are: Attitude, Responsibility, Behavior
To be eligible to apply for a level 1 Learner's License, you must: Be 14:9, Complete segment 1, Pass a 100-question written exam
When applying for a Level 1 Learner;s License you must present the Secretary of State's office with the following three documents: Official Birth Certificate, Certificate of completion, identification of parent/legal guardian
On a Level 1 Learner's License, you may drive only with: A licensed parent/legal guardian, Any licensed 21 year old with permission from guuardian
To be eligible to apply for a Level 2 Intermediate License, you must: 16, Level 1 License for 6mo, Succesfully complete segment 2, No moving violations duriing License 1(90days), Present certification of 50 hours of driving(10at night), Pass a road skills test
With a Level 2 Intermediate License, you may not operate a vehicle between the hours of midnight and 5am unless: Accompanied by a parent/21 (rule) with a license, Going to and from employment
To be eligible for a Level 3 License, you must Be 17, Driven Level 2 for 6mo, Complete 12 consecutive months with no moving violations
Indentify three circumstances which would result in you Level 1 or Level 2 license being extended: Receive a ticket, At fault accident, License suspension
What 2 documents must be present when applying for a road test: Vehicle (appropriate for driving/safety), Registrationa and proof of insurance for vehicle
Two components of driving test are: Basic control skill test, On-road driving test
The Three basic Control Tests are: Forward stop line, Curve path backing, Curved Path Backing and right turn
Identify seven driver behaviors which will result in you automatic failure of the On-Road Driving Test: Proper documents, Disregarding instructions, Off of a bribe, Refusal to wear safety belt, Collision, Traffic Violation, Driver is dangerously inexperienced
Explain in you own words what the driving task involves: Using maneuvers in a vehicle with proper timing in order to react to conditions in an ever changing road environment
Explain how habits are developed: Individual repeats a process so often that it becomes routine for any situation
Why is it important for you to be ably to locate and to operate all of the vehicle controls without having to look for them: Prevents accident and can provide life saving moments
Alternator gauge or light indicates intensity of the elcetrical current
Brake Light indicates activation of parking brake
Fuel gauge and light indicates fuel level
Turn signal flashes if turn signal is activated
Odometer Displays milage
Oil pressure gauge or light indicates the pressure of the oil
Safety Belt reminder to fasten the safety belt
Speedometer indicates vehicle speed (in MPH)
Temperature gauge and light indicate the operation of the engine coolant
ABS indicates the condition of the ABS system
High Beam indicates when high beams are on
Headlight 1st position Ensures vehicle is seen by others, normal lights that are constantly on
headlight 2nd position Further ensures that the vehicle is seen by others
Instrument panel rheostat regulates back lighting in instrument panel
Turn signal lever used to communicate intentions
Windshield wipers/washers used to clear windshield
Climate control controls the temperature in the passenger compartment
Horn Warning device to others
Ignition switch Turns vehical on and starts engine
Steering wheel controls position of the front wheels
Accelerator pedal Controls speed of engine
Brake pedal Controls the service brake system (slow and stop)
Clutch pedal Disengages motore from the transmission fo shifting
Parking brake controls mechanical brakes
Explain how a parking brake can be used as an emergency brake Pulled manually to stop car and prevent the roll of the car down a steep hill
Door locks protect vehicle and passengers
head restraints prevent neck and spinal injuries
Rear View Mirrors give driver a clear view of traffic behind them
Sun visor block the sun's rays
restraint systems minimize the consequences of impact
hazard lights Tells other drivers/pedestrians of trouble or alerts them of the possible trouble the car might be in (caution lights)
In a vehicle collision, there are three distinct impacts. These are: vehicle collides, occupants collide, interior organs, collide
Infant seat 20lbs or less
Toddler seat 20-40lbs
Tilt steering allows wheel to alter position
Air conditioning cools interior
Cruise control maintains desired speed
power windows opens/closes windows electrically
Power door locks secures doors with switches
power seats controls position of seating
Trunk release buttin driver can open the trunk
Interior Hood release lever opens first latch on the hood
Approacing car prior to driving Path is clear, body for damage(vehicle), tires inflated, check under for leaks

Step-by-Step pre-ignition procedure Close and lock doors, insert key in ignition, secure loose objects, adjust seat position, adjust head restraint, adjust mirrors, insure good ventilation, fasten seat belt
Locking doors = No intruders, Integrety of passengers(doors don't fly open)
rear-view mirror-right side is alligned with the right edge of the rear view window
Exterior left rear-view mirror-right edge a little of left side of the car
Exterior right rear-view mirror-left edge a little of right side of the car
5 advantages to using "blind-spot/glare-elimination setting": No longer necessary to look into blind spots, brief glance is only required, mirrors can still be seen, easily included in visual search pattern, glare is virtually eliminated
