Categories: Description: Common causes:

Cardiogenic - Pump failure - Myocardial infarction, dysrythmias

Obstructive - Physical obstruction to blood - Tension Phneumothorax, Cardiac Tamponade, Pulmonary Embolus, Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm Flow.

  • Pale
  • Cool
  • Diaphoretic Skin
  • Tachypnea
  • Increased tidal volume
  • Delayed Capillary refill
  • Hypotension
  • ALOC

Compensatory Mechanisms:

  • Tachycardia
