Name of GodRole in the Odyssey
Aeolus Keeper of the Winds; gives Odysseus a gift of leather bag containing adverse winds that could drive his ship off course- the sailors openned the bag while Odysseus slept and the ship was driven off course. - Aeolus cursed Odysseus and banishes him
Athena Goddess of Wisdom- daughter of Zeus- guards Odysseus thru his journey---one of the major Gods in the Odyssey
Calypso sea nymph who holds Odysseus captive for 9 years---she wants to marry Odysseus and offers him immortality.
Circe An enchantress- changes the sailors into pigs- falls in love with Odysseus and then helps him on his voyage with advice etc.
Poseidon God of the Sea, brother of Zeus, hates Odysseus. Father of Polyphemous.
