Calvin Cycle  The process of photosynthesis where carbon dioxide is fixed and ATP and NADPH are used to produce a carbohydrate.  
carbon fixation  Joining carbon dioxide to RuBP in the Calvin Cycle.  
stomata  Small pores in the undersurface of a plant’s leaves used for gas exchange.  
C4 pathway  Plants living in hot, dry climates, like corn or sugar cane use this alternate pathway to fix carbon dioxide.  
CAM pathway  Plants like pineapples use this pathway to fix carbon dioxide. They open their stomata at night.  
rubisco  The most common enzyme on earth-used to join carbon dioxide and RuBP.  
ATP  The cell’s energy currency.  
NADPH  An energy shuttle that transport electrons and hydrogen ions between the light reactions and the Calvin cycle.
