scientific Inquiry

QuestionAnswer
bias an oblique or diagonal line of direction, especially across a woven fabric.
conclusion the last main division of a discourse, usually containing a summing up of the points and a statement of opinion or decisions reached
control not changing or varying; uniform; regular; invariable All conditions during the three experiments were constant
data Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
dependent variable A variable (often denoted by y) whose value depends on that of another
evidence The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid
expeniment A scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact
hypothesis A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
independent variable A variable (often denoted by x) whose variation does not depend on that of anothe
inference A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
model A three-dimensional representation of a person or thing or of a proposed structure, typically on a smaller scale than the original.
observation The action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.
