line of symmetry | an imaginary line that divides a shape into 2 matching parts |

obtuse angle | an angle that measures greater than a right angle; an angle that has a measure of more than 90 degrees |

ray | a part of a line that is straight and has one end point and continues without ending in one direction |

right angle | an angle that forms a square corner and has a measure of 90 degrees |

line segment | a part of a line that is straight and has 2 end points |

angle | a figure formed by 2 rays or 2 line segments and has a common endpoint called the vertex |

perpendicular lines | two lines that intersect to form a right angle |

parallel lines | lines that never meet |

intersecting lines | lines that meet or touch or cross |

straight angle | forms a straight line; measures 180 degrees |

polygon | closed flat shape with straight sides |

vertex | point where 2 sides of a polygon meet |

triangle | polygon with 3 sides |

quadrilateral | polygon with 4 sides |

pentagon | polygon with 5 sides |

hexagon | polygon with 6 sides |

octagon | polygon with 8 sides |

equilateral triangle | triangle with all sides the same length |

isosceles triangle | triangle with 2 sides same length and 1 side a different length; think SOS - same-odd man out-same |

scalene triangle | triangle with no sides the same length |

right triangle | triangle with 1 right angle |

acute triangle | triangle with 3 acute angles (less than 90 degrees) |

obtuse triangle | triangle with 1 obtuse angle (greater than 90 degrees |

rhombus | figure with opposite sides parallel and all sides the same length |

trapezoid | a figure with only 1 pair of parallel sides |

parallelogram | a figure with 2 pairs of opposite parallel sides |

rectangle | a figure with 4 right angles and opposite parallel sides |

square | a figure with 4 right angles and 4 sides that are the same length |
