Algebra II Ch 2

Direct-Variation Function- is a funtion with a formula of the form y=kx^n, with k!=0 and n>0
Constant of Variation- the non-xero real onstant k in the equation y=kx^n for a variation function.
Inverse-Variation Function- a function with a formula of the form y=k/x^n, with k!=0 and n>0
Slope/Rate of Change- of the line through 2 points (x1, y1) and 0x2, y2) equals y2-y1/x2-x1
Line of Symmetry- For a figure F, a line m such that the reflection image of F over m equals F itself
Combined Variation- y=kx/z Joint Variation- y=kxz
Hyperbola- the graph of every function with an equation of the form y=k/x, where k!=0; the set of points P in a plane which satisfy |PF1-PF2|=d, where F1 and F2 are any two points and d is a constant with 0
