What is Science? A way of learning about the natural world by gathering information
What is a qualatative observation? descriptions that don't involve numbers or measuements
Observations that include measurments are called what? quantitative observations
What is the study of matter, energy, and the changes they undergo? Physical Science
What is Chemistry? the study of the properties of matter and how matter changes
What is physics? the study of matter and energy and how they interact
What are the three parts of how scientists think? observing, inferring, and predicting
What is scientific inquiry? It refers to the different ways scientists study the natural world.
What is a possible answer to a scientific question or explanation for the set of observations? a hypothesis
What are variables? Factors that can change in an experiment
What is a manipulated variable? The variable that changes
What is a responding variable? The variable that is expected to change because of manipulated variable
What is an controlled experiment? an investigation in which all variables expect one remain the same
The facts, figures, and other evidence gathered through observations is what? Data
Communicating is what? sharing ideas and conclusions with others through writing and speaking
A statement that describes what scientists expect to happen everytime under particular set of conditions is what? Scientific law
What is scientific theory? A well tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experimental results
