Rockie Mountains Extends west of the Great Plains and east of the Baison and Range : Rugged mountains streatching from Alaska almost to Mexico : Contains the Contintal Divid which determins the directional flow of rivers : Has a large amount of snow- in the winter
Grest Plains : Extends through the middle of America from Texas to North Dakota : Contains flat lands whose elevation gradually increaces heading westward : Has a large areas of grasslands and praries that recive very little rain each year
Inerior Lowlands : Extends west of the Appalachian Mts and east of the Great Plains : Has Rolling flatlands streaching as far as eye can see :Contains many Rivers, broad rivers valleys, and grassy hills :Nickname- Tornado ally- due to its unpredictable weather
Appalachian Highlands : Extends from Canada to Alabama : old,, erodes mountain peaks :the oldest mountain range in North America : Contains the highest peak in US east is Mississippi which is Mt. Mitchell in the state on North Carolina
Coastal Plain : Extends along the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf on Mexico( we live here ) : Broad lowlands with many excellent harbors and bays Contains some of America's greatest port ciriessuch as NY, Boston and Bathmore : Popular tourist spot- New York City
Canadian Shield Wrapped around the Hudson Bay like a horsesoe shape : Very rocky with poor thin soil so little can grow there :hills worn by erosion : Lakes creates my melting glaciers : Contains some of the oldest rocks in NorthAmerica
