Volume of Figures

Formulas for volume of figures, including cone, sphere, and others.

Space FigureVolume
General formula for prisms and cylinders V=Bh
Rectangular prism V=lwh (note: all sides must be at right angles)
Triangular prism (t=height for this only) V=(1/2*bh)t
Other prism (p=perimeter of base, a=apothem) V=1/2*aph
Cylinder V=πr²h
Oblique prism/cylinder same as right prism/cylinder (but "base" must be perpendicular to the line used for "height")
Cone V=1/3*πr²h
General formula for pyramids V=1/3*Bh
Polygonal pyramids (when apothem is given) V=1/6*aph
Sphere V=4/3*πr³
Square pyramid V=1/3*lwh
Triangular pyramid (t=height) V=1/3*bht
Hourglass shape V=1/3*πr²
