Revision of Solutions

Solution A liquid with something dissolved in it
Soluble Something that is soluble can dissolve into a solution
Solute Something that dissolves into a solvent
Solvent Like water. It is what the solute dissolves into
Insoluble It does'nt dissolve in a type of liquid
Concentration How much there is of smething in a solution for example squash
Saturated Solution When no more solute can be added to the solvent
Solubility The amount of of solute needed to make a a saturated solution in 100cm3
What 2 things can you do to increase solubility 1)Heat up2)Stir
Common salt Sodium chloride
Brine Salt Solution
How to create Disalination using Distillation.5 steps 1)Heat salted water2)Water evaporates3)Water vapour rises up out of flask4)It gets cooled back into water by the condenser5)Water
Chromatography Seperates dye.1)Put a dot of each colour on a piece of filter paper2)dip in water and leave for a while3)The colours will rise leaving different colours behind4)The most soluble solution goes furthest5)The final result is a chromatogram
Filteration Mixture goes through filter paper and gets caught
