Direct antihuman globulin test (DAT) Positive results point to autoimmune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN), and transfusion incompatibility
Type and Rh Determination of blood group (ABO) and type (Rh) by identifying agglutinins present or absent
Type and Crossmatch Determination of blood group and general screening for antibodies of recipient's blood and then recipient and donor blood are checked against each other for compatibility
Compatibility testing Detection of unsuspected antibodies and antigens in recipient's and donor's blood that could cause severe reaction if transfused
