North Pole The most northern point on Earth
South Pole The most southern place on Earth
Equator An imaginary line around the center of the earth that separates the northern and southern hemispheres
Continents A very large body of land; there are 7 of them on Earth
Oceans A very large body of salt water; there are 5 of them on Earth
Map Symbol These are drawings or pictures on a map that represent different places
Map Key This tells what the symbols on a map mean
Cardinal Directions North, south, east, and west
Compass Rose This symbol tells the directions on a map
Locator Map This is a smaller map on a larger map that shows something specific
Landform Map This type of map shows landforms
Grid Map Uses lines that make boxes to find exact location
Prime Meridian The imaginary line that runs north and south that separates the eastern and western hemispheres
Coordinates The numbers and letters that help you find exact location on a grid map
Latitude Parallel lines that run east and west on earth
Longitude Lines that run north and south on Earth; they start at the North Pole and end at the South Pole
