Social Studies Geog1

First geography unit we will be learning in social studies

TermDefinition
Longitude -the angular distance of a place East or West of the meridian
Plateau -an area of relatively level high ground
Valley -a low area of land between hills or mountains typically with a river or stream flowing through it
Mountain -a large natraul elevation of the Earth's surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level; a large steep hill
Equater -an imaginary line drawn around the Earth equally distant from both poles dividing the Earth into two halves
Prime Meridian -the Earth's zero of longitude
Latitude -the angular distance of a place North or South of the Earth's equator
