Meridian line of longitude (goes north to south)
Prime Meridian Marks 0 degrees Longitude
Cardinal Directions Main Directions (N, E, S, W)
Intermediate Directions NW, NE, SW, SE
Hemisphere Half of the Earth (East and West OR North and South)
Relative Location Directions that get you close or a general location (Ex. I am next to the gas station)
Absolute Location Gives the exact location of here something or someone is located (you exact address)
Place includes more than just where it is located. Includes features and characteristics that give an area its identity.
Physical Characteristics these are natural things such as land forms, weather, plants, animals
Human Characteriscs these include language, religion, architecture, music, politics, man made things
Human Environment Interaction (HEI) this focuses on how people interact and alter their environment. People must change the natural surrounding in order to survive in most parts of the world.
Movement events in other places can have an impact on the people and things in another area. Transportation routes, communication systems, shipments and people relocation can impact many aspects.
Region Unification of a feature or mix of features. These features can be language, landscape, religion, location, occupation or people.
