# The Unit Circle

### Formula

Theorems/PropertiesFormulas/Definitions
The Pythagorean Identity in Trigonometry and derivatives. cos²(x) + sin² (x) = 1
Reference angle theorem. Let's i be the reference angle of x. cos(x) = -/+ cos(i) and sin (x) = -/+ sin(i).
Beyond the unit circle. Q(x,y) and r = sqrt(x²+y²). cos(u) = x/r and sin(u) = y/r.
Cosine and Sine formulas in a right-angle triangle. cos(x) = (adjacent side to the angle)/(hypotenuse). sin(x) = (opposite side to the angle)/(hypotenuse).
Cosine function. domain: set |R. range: [-1, 1]
