General equation of straight line y = mx + c
m Coefficient of x; value of gradient
c Constant term; value of y-intercept
distance between two points The absolute value of the difference of the coordinates of the points.
mid-point a point equidistant from the ends of a line or the extremities of a figure
gradient A difference in concentration, pressure, or electrical charge between two regions.
