Chapter 8 Geometry Vocabulary

Equilateral A polygon with all congruent sides.
Equiangular A polygon with all congruent angles.
Vertex The point where two sides of a polygon meet.
Area The number of square units that can fit inside a two-dimensional shape.
Perimeter The distance around a plane figure.
Base The parallel sides of a trapezoid.
Leg The non-parallel sides of a trapezoid.
Diameter The distance from one side of a circle to the other through the center.
Circle The set of all all points in a plane equidistant from a given point.
Rectangle A parallelogram with four right angles.
Rhombus A parallelogram with four congruent sides.
Circumference The distance around a circle.
Radius The distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle.
Parallelogram A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.
Trapezoid A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides.
