Geometric Transformation Rules

Rule for Reflection over x-axis x stays the same, y changes signs (x, -y)
Rule for Reflection over y-axis x changes signs, y stays the same (-x, y)
Rule for 90 degree counter-clockwise rotation Reverse, then change the sign of the first (-y, x)
Rule for 90 degree clockwise rotation Reverse, then change the sign of the 2nd (y, -x)
Rule for 180 rotation Change both signs (-x, -y)

What does (x - 3, y + 2) mean? Move the figure 3 left and 2 up
If k = 1.5 is the dilation a reduction or enlargement? Enlargement
What changes in a translation? (location, orientation, or size)? Location (moves to a new spot)
What changes in a reflection? (orientation, or size)? Orientation (faces a different direction)
What changes in a dilation? (orientation, or size)? Size (gets bigger or smaller)
How does a scale factor of 5 affect area? Makes the area 25 times bigger (5 squared)
