HFL Math8- Polynomials

polynomial A sum of monomials.
monomial A number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables raised to whole number powers.
term The monomials that are added together in the polynomial.
degree of a term The sum of the exponents of the variables in the term. The degree of a nonzero constant is zero.
degree of a polynomial The greatest degree of the terms of the polynomial.
standard form A polynomial is written in standard form if all like terms are combined and the terms are arranged so that the degree of each term decreases or stays the same from left to right.
binomial A polynomial with two terms.
trinomial A polynomial with three terms.
simplify To use the rules of arithemetic and algebra to rewrite an expression as simply as possible.
expression Any mathematical calculation or formula combining numbers and/or variables using mathematical operations.
algebraic Designating an expression, equation, or function in which only numbers, letters, and arithemetic operations are contained or used
product The result of multiplying a set of numbers or expressions.
