Changes of Matter

Review for chemical&physical changes+balancing equation,etc.

Chemical Changes A change that creates something new.
Physical Changes A change that doesn't create something new and just changes the physical properties.
Chemical Property Being able to be changed chemically. Such as being able to be set on fire.
Synthesis A chemical reaction that combines elements.i.e P+O2=P4O10
Decomposition A chemical reaction that breaks things apart or separates the elements from each other. i.e HgO=Hg+O2
Single Replacement A chemical reaction that replaces one element with another. i.e Cl2+NaBr=NaCl+Br2
Double Replacement A chemical reaction that replaces 2 elements with the other. i.e CuCl2+H2S=CuS+HCl
Atom A single element by itself.
Molecule A group of elements chemically bonded.
Conservation of Mass Balancing Equations i.e N2+H2=NH3 is unbalanced, 1N2+3H2=2NH3
Physical Property The properties that are observed by the 5 senses
