trench Ocean trenches are long, narrow depressions on the seafloor
abyssal plain a large area of extremely flat or gently sloping ocean floor just offshore from a continent
ocean floor the bottom of the sea or sea floor
natural processes a series of events (process) caused by nature
constructive forces that help build up the Earth, either by depositing soil or silt in a river, or by volcanoes and lava flows that generates new land.
destructive forces that destroy the Earth
deposition is the process by which rocks, sand and sediment are deposited by the forces of erosion
tsunamis large and powerful ocean waves that grow in size as they reach the shore
wave wind causing movement of the ocean's surface
current a continuous flow of water in the ocean
tide the rising and falling of the sea
beach a pebbly or sandy shore
barrier island a long narrow sandy island running parallel to the shore
estuary the ocean by a sandbar or barrier island
inlet a bay or cove
conservation the careful effort to conserve our Earth's natural resources
pollution pollution happens when the environment is contaminated by waste chemicals and other harmful substances
ocean shore zone where the ocean water meets land
