What right did slaves have? They could marry.
Who was the highest ranking person in the West Africa's Caste System? The emporer.
In West Africa when was a person's caste fixed at ? At birth.
I how were lineages and clans related? Lineages were part of a clan.
How did West African emperors support trade? Muhammad used his armies to protect trade routes from traders.
What was the griots main job? To pass on their peoples history.
What were the most widely used instruments? The drums were widely used.
What year were West Africans taken as slaves? In the 1500s.
How did West African traditions spread to the Americas? In the beginning of the 1500s when many west Africans were taken as slaves to the Americas, taking their traditions with them.
what did griots encourage emperors to do? They encouraged them to rule justly through poetry.
