Coordinate Plane

Horizontal Parallel to the horizon
Vertical Perpendicular to the horizon; upright
Origin The intersection point (0, 0) where the x-axis and the y-axis meet on the coordinate plane
Coordinates The numbers in an ordered pair that locate a point on a coordinate plane
Ordered Pair A pair of numbers (x, y) that can be used to represent a point in a coordinate plane.
x-axis The horizontal axis in the coordinate plane
y-axis The vertical axis in the coordinate plane
Quadrant One of the four regions of the coordinate plane determined by the axes.
Input A number on which a function operates
Output A number produced by evaluating a function using a given input.
