Hypothalamus Regulates fear, thirst, sex-drive, aggression
Corpus Callosum Connects left and right hemispheres of brain
Cerebral Cortex Controls complex thoughts, stores memories
Thalamus Relays info from sensory organs to cerebral cortex
Hippocampus Forms long-term memories, helps remember, plays role in emotions
Cerebellum Controls balance, maintains muscle coordination
Recticular Formation Nerves running from hindbrain through midbrain to cerebral cortex, controlling arousal and attention
Amygdala Responsible for fear responses and memory of fear
Medulla Nerves cross from one side of the body to the opposite side of the brain
Pons Relays messages between the cerebellum and cortex... Sleep and dreaming
Parietal Lobes Touch, temp, body position
Temporal Lobes Auditory, language
Frontal Lobes Planning, personality, memory storage, complex decision making
Occipital Lobes Processes visual info from eyes
Cortex "Rind", outer-covering packed of neurons
Right Cerebral Hemisphere Processes info globally, emotional expression, spatial perception, face recognition (as well as patterns, melodies and emotions)
Left Cerebral Hemisphere Language, writing, logical thought, info processed sequentially
