What are the indications for use of ETCO2 monitoring? Overdose, Anesthsia, Respiratory patients (asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, COPD)
What is the normal range for ETCO2? 30-43
What can increase ETCO2 levels? pain, hyperthermia, shivering, airway obstruction.
What can decrease ETCO2 levels? Hypothermia, Cardiopulmonary arrest, PE
What can cause a sudden decrease to zero? PE, dislodged ET tube, complete ariway obstructions, intubation
Notify the doctor if the ETCO2 is greater than 45 or less than 26 or 10% increas or decrease
