Active Window	the current window that is in front of all the other windows and is currently being used
Boolean Logic	programming in logic
Central Processing Unit (CPU)	the part of a computer that interprets and executes instructions
Citation	a reference to a source
Copyright	the legal protection intellectual property
Desktop	the computer
Domain (Internet)	suffixes that are at the end of a website that you type in
Fair Use	the conditions under which you can use material that is copyrighted by someone else without paying royalties
Favorites (bookmarks)	a spot to keep all of your favorite websites
File	items that you have saved (you can keep them in a folder)
Folder	A spot to keep all of your files
Fraud	a deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual
Hacker	computer enthusiast
Hard Disk	a magnetic disk which you can store computer data
Hardware	a device that is physically connected to your computer
Icon	picture, image or representative
Input	something that is put in
Intellectual Property	ideas and concepts created or owned by a person or company.
Internet	a vast computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide
Log off	to log off the computer without shutting down
Log On	to get on your computer
Memory	the mental capacity of retaining and reviving facts
Menu	any list or set of items
Monitor	the computer screen
Mouse	a tool you use to click words or pictures on the computer
My Computer	Allows the user to see the different drives and network resources
Network	communicate with or within a group
Operating System (OS)	software designed to control the hardware of a specific data processing system in order to allow users and application programs to make use of it
Output	items that are sent out from the computer
Password	a secret word or expression used by authorized persons to prove their right to access
Permission	the owner or creator of the work allows you to use the work in a way that was not its original purpose
Piracy	the act of plagiarizing
Plagiarism	If you do not site your sources, you are taking someone else’s idea. It is illegal
Print Preview	to get a look at what you have made before you print it
Printer	an object that copies a picture from the computer and puts it on paper
Program	a systematic plan for the automatic solution of a problem by the computer
Public Domain	describes material that people can use freely without permission
Recycle Bin	an icon where you can drag items that you want to throw away
Right Click	a menu of items that you can choose from when you click the right button on the mouse
Save As	you click it so you can save your work
Search Engine	a computer program that retrieves documents or files or data from a database or from a computer network
Server	a computer that provides client stations with access to printers and files as shared resources to a computer network
Shutdown	to turn your computer off or to restart the computer
Software	written programs or procedures or rules and associated documentation pertaining to the operation of a computer system and are stored in read/write memory
Start Menu	it has all of the applications and it is located at the bottom left corner of the screen
Terms of Use	explains a site’s rules regarding permission
Trademark	name or symbol that identifies a product with a specific owner
Uniform Resource Locator	the address of a webpage on the World Wide Web
Username	used as identification when logging on to the computer and more.
Web Browser	a program used to view HTML documents
