Magnetism

It's sooooo Attractive

StatementAwnser
Earth and some Earth materials have magnetite properties.
Earth's core is made of nickel and iron.
This may be responsible for Earth's magnetic field.
Without touching them, a magnet attracts things made of iron and either pushes or pulls on other magnets.
The amazing magnetic force is the push or pull of a magnet on other magnetic material.
When the North Pole of the magnet is brought near the South Pole of another magnet, they attract each other.
If like poles North to North or South to South, are brought together they repel (push apart) each other.
Natural magnets are naturally magnetized by Earth's magnetic field and are made of and iron ore that is call magnetite or lodestone.
A permanent magnet is a object that keeps its magnetism after it has been magnetized.
Iron and nickel are the most common materials magnets are made from.
A magnet has a north and south magnetic pole.
Electromagnetism is the magnetism produces when and iron core is magnetized by an electric current passing through a wire, which is coiled around it.
More loops the stronger the current.
A magnetic field is an area around a magnet where the magnetic force exists.
A compass is an instrument used to determine geographic direction on Earth.
A electric motors use electromagnets that run everything from refrigerators and washing machines to electric trains and robots.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
