The holistic model considers more than just the physical components of the diagnosis: it is cultural, spiritual, social, physical, psychological
you need to instruct PTS according to their needs to promote health maintenance and disease prevention
Pain can interfere with the pts ability to pay attention during education interventions
Using body language interpreting the PTs nonverbal cues can helps improve communication
Identify resources/ adaptation that are required based on individual needs example: culture/environment, developmental life stage, language and physical threats to communication
Skills should be taught with demonstration/ return demonstration
some type of educational material may be inappropriate for an elderly Pt.
Emotional distress can interfere with a teaching intervention
information can be released only to individual designated in writing by the Pt.
