1st freedom of religion, the press, speech, and to peacefully assemble
2nd right to bear arms
3rd Quartering Act - no quartering soldiers without consent
4th no search on personal without reason/warrant
5th no self-incrimination, no double jeopardy (no punishment or trial after verdict), land can be taken for public use for a fair price
6th right to impartial jury by your peers & right to speedy and public trial
7th right to trial by jury when suing someone above $20
8th no cruel and unusual punishments
9th more rights than stated in the Constitution
10th states can decide certain laws; state pwr if Const doesn't delegate it to the US govt
11th state can't be sued by citizens of another state or foreigner
12th separate ballots for Pres & VP in Electoral College; if no candidate for Pres receives maj House vote (1 per state)
13th outlawed slavery
14th Defines US citizenship; guarantees all citizens "equal protection of the law" - due process; blacks and freed slaves are citizens
15th African American men right to vote - no restrictions on voting based on race
16th income tax
17th senators elected by the people
18th prohibited alcohol
19th women can vote
20th Pres inauguration changed to Jan; if Pres-elect dies before sworn in, VP-elect becomes press
21st repeals 18th
22nd Pres can only serve 2 terms
23rd DC can vote for Pres
24th no poll taxes
25th VP becomes Pres if something happens to him; established succession
26th 18 yr old can vote
27th if Cong gives itself a raise, it doesn't go into effect until the next term
