Value of the variable (red p1) The numbers that can be represented by the variable

Simplify an expression (red p2) Replacing an expression containing variables by an equivalent expression with as few terms as possible
Substitution principle (red p2) An expression may be replaced by another expression that has the same value

evaluate an expression (red p2) replacing each variable in a variable expression by a given value and simplifying the result.
