Feudalism as a form of Government | highly localized form of government that focused on ties of mutual aid between kings and nobles, granted them fiefs |
Fiefs | estates with peasants to work the fields, given by the king |
Inquisition | Catholic priests charged with finding evil doers, sending then to trial, and then executing them |
Troubadours | traveling entertainers, the rock stars of the medieval world |
Code of Chivalry | manners and proper behaviors between men and women |
Manorialism | the agricultural system that provided the existence for local communities in medieval Europe. economic life is centered around the manor where all agricultural production takes place. |
Serfs | the peasants who are legally bound to the land under feudal law |
Guilds | merchants and artisans who organized themselves into business associations |
Scholasticism | application of aristile's philosophgy to theological questions. basically the inion of classical and Christian thought in an effort to reconcile them and integrate both philosophies. |
Gothic | the style of architecture of the medieval cathedrals |
Vernacular | the language of everyday speech, the language of your country |
Nobles | the dudes and their ladies who receive fiefs from the king and govern over their manors and local communities. inherited wealth and collected taxes for themselves and king. |
