What is figurative language? An expression or statement that is not to be interpreted literally.
What is a simile? Way of describing something comparing it with something else using “like” or “as.”
What is a metaphor? Way of describing something by comparing it to something else.
What is personification? Describing something that is not human as if it had human characteristics.
What is alliteration? Repetition of the first consonant.
What is onomatopoeia? Words that are sounds.
What is assonance? Repetition of first vowel.
What is hyperbole? Exaggeration used for emphasis or effect.
What is an idiom? Figure of speech specific to a group of people or culture.
