Law of Conservation of Mass molecules cannot be broken or created
Physical Change usually a reversible change of a substance in size or shape

Element one of a substance that cannot be broken down because it is in its simplest form.
Chemical Formula a substance using symbols for its component elements
Element (Diatomic) Molecule when two or more elements combine chemically with only one element
Compound Molecule made of molecules not ions; atoms in the compound are bound together by shared electrons
Chemical Equation a chemical reaction using symbols of the elements to indicate each reactant and product
Chemical Reaction process that involves changes in the structure and energy content of atoms and molecules
Reactants (chemical equation) substances that go through a chemical change
Products (chemical equation) substances that result from a chemical change
Coefficient (chemical equation) tells the number of molecules; no coefficient means 1 molecule
Subscript (chemical equation) tells the number of a certain type of atom in one molecule
