what is a beat a beat is a steady pulse of all music
what is a quarter not a quarter not is one beat of a sound
what is a quarter rest it is one beat of silence
what is a barline a verticle line that groups notes and rests together
what is a measure? the space between the barlines.
what is a meter? the way of organizing rhythm.
what is time signature? a set of numbers at the beginning of a piece of music.
what is a staff? a staff is a five lined and four spaces on which notes are written.
what is a clef? a symbol at the beginning of a staff that indicates which lines and spaces represent which notes.
what is a treble clef? a clef that generally indicates notes that sound higher than middle C.
what is a bass clef? a clef that generally indicates notes that sound lower than middle C.
what is a grand staff? a staff that is created when two staves are joined together.
what is a scale? a group of pitches which are sung or played in succession and are based on a particular home tone (tonic).
what is a key? a scale is determined by its home tone or tonic.
what is a rhythm? a combination of long and short notes and rests.
what is a half note? a note that represents two beats of sound.
what is a half rest? a rest that represents two beats of silence.
